Dr. Oka is a senior lecturer for Singapore University of Technology and Design.
His research areas include Computer Science Education.
He came to Singapore in 2000 to study electrical and electronics engineering in Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. After he finished his bachelor’s degree, he continued his further study in NTU to obtain his doctoral degree in semiconductor physics. In the last year of his doctoral degree, he began to work at the Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC), A*Star, Singapore. During his term in IHPC, he was involved with various research projects using numerical methods to solve quantum mechanics, electromagnetics, and plasmonics.
After three and a half year In IHPC, He realized that his passion In Teaching Has Not Yet Been Realised, And So He Moved On To School Of Mathematics And Science, Singapore Polytechnic, In 2011.After Completing His Two-Year Contract, He Then Decided To Join Sutd. While Teaching In Singapore Polytechnic, He Was Also An Adjunct Lecturer At Digipen Singapore, Singapore Institute Of Technology (Sit).
Besides His Passion In Teaching And Research, He Loves To Read Books, Listens To Music, Outdoor Activities, And Spending Time With His Family.
Dr. Scarlett Is A Psychotherapist/Counsellor, Coaching Psychologist & Supervisor And Psychometrist For The Psynamo Group., Specialising In Psychological And Therapeutic Support
Dr. Scarlett Works Therapeutically With Children From Five Years Of Age, Adolescents, Families And Individual Adult Clients Throughout The Lifespan Development As Well As With Organizations Through Eap Programmes And In A Consultancy Capacity.
Additional Training And Credentialing In Sped, Spld And Dyslexia Support, Play Therapy And Psychometric And Educational Assessments Is Utilized In Her Work With Families And Clients. She Also Offers Supervision For Coaches, Training For A Range Of Disciplines And Public Speaking For A Broad Variety Of Topics.
Currently Working Towards Her Doctorate In Clinical Psychology (Psyd), She Continues With Her Research And Specialization Interested In Additions, Family/Parenting And Learning Differences.

Our child has been with The Lab since the middle of 2022 and has been enjoying himself every lesson. He is always very excited and enthusiastic to go for coding classes. Our initial worries of whether he will be able to adapt and learn were unfounded. Kudos to Teacher Khim who is extremely patient, nurturing and engaging! She makes learning fun and will take the time to guide and ensure that my child understands the concept and is able to carry out the task independently. Teacher Khim also takes the time to provide feedback on our child’s learning after every class which we are very appreciative of. We also love it that the lesson outline is sent to us after every lesson too. Another plus point would be the bright and open concept of the learning environment at The Lab.

My 8 year old girl enjoys the lessons and is always looking forward to the next lesson. The teachers are engaging, approachable and professional. What I like about The Lab’s program is that it encourages independent learning and problem solving skills. However, when my girl gets stuck on a task, the teacher will not tell her the solution but instead offer prompts/guidance and teach her how to think critically to dissect the problem and arrive at the solution.
