In this 1-day course aims to deliver an introductory to Python Programming with an application to hardware programming using Lego Robotics Education. Learners will be introduced to programming to understand what is Computational Thinking and Programming Language. They will also learn about the syntax and structure of the Python programming language. At the end of the course, they will implement a program as a small-scale project.

Python Essentials for Beginners

Course Overview:

This 1-day course aims to deliver an introductory to Python Programming with an application to hardware programming with Lego Robotics Education. Learners will be introduced to programming to understand what is Computational Thinking and Programming Language. They will also learn about the syntax and structure of the Python programming language. At the end of the course, they will implement a program as a small-scale project.

Target Learners:

This course is suitable for individuals who have no programming background and seek to understand what programming is like through a practical application process.
It serves as a starting point to experience basic programming and integration with hardware so that learners have more clarity if they should invest in full computing curriculums to venture into the industry. Knowledge taught in this workshop forms part of the essentials for all starters such as junior developers and system testers.

Entry Requirement:

The entry requirements are: 

  • 21 years and above
  • Possess minimally a Secondary Level and/or listen, speak, read, and write English at a proficiency
    level equivalent to Employability Skills System Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 4
  • Use numeracy skills equivalent to the Employability Skills System Workplace Numeracy (WPN)
    Level 4
  • Possess immediate computer literacy
  • Minimum 1 month of working experience

Learning Outcomes

  • LO1 Apply standard scripts and tools to deploy and execute modifications to software configuration
  • LO2 Conduct basic tests and checks of software products to identify compatibility and
    functionality issues
  • LO3 Record software product updates and release activities for future reference
